Rox Try To End Jackals' Jugular Hold

The Brockton Post
BROCKTON--Brockton Rox pitcher Freddy Flores hopes to stop his team's three game skid when they take on the first place New Jersey Jackals this morning.
The Rox have lost three in a row, including a game yesterday against the Jackals in a pitcher's duel that saw the Rox lose after starting pitcher Wayne Lundgren left the game in the seventh inning with a 1-0 lead. New Jersey went on to win the game 4-1.
It was the fourth straight win for New Jersey over the Rox this season.
The Rox hope to rebound behind Flores, who is on a three game winning streak.
With a win, the Rox could gain some ground in the race for the playoffs. New Jersey leads the Can-Am League standings with a record of 6-3 in the second half of the season and won the first half of the season, assuring the Jackals a spot in the playoffs.
Brockton began the season slowly and fell to the bottom of the standings, until a 12-0 winning streak at the end of the first half.
The Rox are in third place with a 4-3 record in the second half. They are one game behind New Jersey and a half-game behind the Worcester Tornadoes.
Today's game begins at 11 a.m.
