Errors, Walks Doom Rox

The Brockton Post
LITTLE FALLS, N.J.--If only the Rox could have back the first inning of yesterday morning’s rain-soaked 7-5 loss to the league leading NJ Jackals.
The Rox gave up four runs and committed three errors on their way to the second loss of a three-game series to NJ and a potential sweep of the series tonight, and a six-game, season losing streak against NJ.
The two teams will close the series at Yogi Berra Field in Little Falls, N.J. tonight at 7:05 p.m.
The Rox have lost five straight to the Jackals and will try to prevent a sweep of the series and of the season so far.
The Rox will send to the mound Fraser Robinson, who is 5-2 on the season with a 4.33 ERA. He is paired against Isaac Pavlik, who is 5-3, with a 3.74 ERA.
Freddy Flores, yesterday’s losing pitcher, dropped to a record of 3-2, snapping a three-game win streak.
Flores gave up four runs and had walked five by the second inning, spotting the Jackals a 5-1 lead.
The Rox bats cut loose in the top of the sixth inning scoring three runs sparked by right fielder Jud Thigpen’s lead-off 10th homerun and a double by rookie catcher Jon Gossard.
Adding to the Rox defensive woes: the Jackals stole four bases on four tries and are 7-7 in steals against the Rox so far this season.
